Features
Every figure, always in view.
Each module is its own small item in your menu bar, made to read at a glance. The figure is right there, so there’s nothing to click.
Everything at once.
Overview is one item for people who want just one: the processor, memory and disk side by side, as small bars or figures.
The processor.
Its load as a figure, as a small graph of the last minute, or both.
Memory in use.
How much memory is in use, as a share or in gigabytes, or its pressure, counted the way Activity Monitor counts it.
Free space.
Your startup disk’s free space, counted the way Finder counts it, or how fast it’s reading and writing.
Up and down.
Download and upload speeds, in bytes or in bits, as figures or a small mirrored graph.
The battery.
Its charge or the time left, or just a small battery filled to its charge.
The graphics processor.
How busy it is, wherever the graphics driver reports it.
Temperatures and fans.
The processor’s, graphics’ or battery’s temperature, or a fan’s speed, read without any helper or admin password.
For developers
Your code and your network, at a glance.
Eight modules for people who build things, each off until you turn it on. They read only this Mac.
AI Usage.
How much of your AI coding tools’ limits you’ve used, as a figure or a small ring, from the files the tools keep on your Mac. Click for each tool and when it starts over.
Git.
The branch and changes of a repository you pick, read when something in it changes. Click for every repository, ahead and behind. It only reads: it never commits, fetches or pushes.
Dev Servers.
How many servers you’re running. Click for each one’s port and name, and open a web server in your browser.
Docker.
How many containers are running. Click for each one’s name, status and ports. It never starts or stops anything.
Ping.
How long a server takes to answer, in milliseconds, as a figure or a small graph. The one module that goes online, and only once you turn it on.
VPN.
A shield that fills while a VPN is connected, so you can tell at a glance.
Wi-Fi.
How strong the signal is, as bars or in dBm. Never your network’s name.
Uptime.
How long since your Mac started up, in days and hours.
Every one of them reads this Mac only and keeps what it reads in memory: nothing is logged or uploaded.
And your day
The rest of your day, up there too.
ZincWolf MenuBar brings the glanceable parts of ZincWolf Island and ZincWolf Dock to your menu bar.
Calendar.
Your next event in the menu bar. Click it for today’s events and tomorrow’s first, and click one to open it in Calendar. It asks for your calendar only when you turn it on.
World Clocks.
The time in the cities you choose. Click for all of them at once.
Timers.
Your timers counting down, and a few lengths to start one with a click.
Keep Awake.
A cup in your menu bar. Click it to keep your Mac awake, and again to let it sleep.
Now Playing.
The song that’s playing, with its artwork, and back, play or pause, and forward.
Timers and Keep Awake are shared with ZincWolf Island and ZincWolf Dock, on your Mac only: start a timer in one and it counts down in all of them.
Every day
The small things, one click away.
A note, your to-dos, a stopwatch and more, each off until you turn it on.
Notes.
A quick note to read and type in, from its small panel. The same note as in ZincWolf Island, Dock and Widgets.
To-Dos.
How many are still open. Click to tick them off or add one. The same list as in ZincWolf Widgets.
Countdown.
The days to your next date. Click for every date, soonest first.
Stopwatch.
Click to start or pause it, hold to reset. No panel, just the time.
Shelf.
Keep files on it for later, then drag them out where they’re going. The same shelf as in ZincWolf Island and Dock.
Colours.
Click to pick a colour anywhere on your screen and copy its hex. Option-click for the ones you picked before.
Appearance.
A sun or a moon. Click to switch your Mac between light and dark mode.
Device Batteries.
Your AirPods’, mouse’s, keyboard’s and trackpad’s charge, the lowest first.
Reminders.
How many reminders are due today. Click to tick them off. It asks for your reminders only when you turn it on.
Eject.
There only while a drive or disk image is connected. Click to eject one, or all of them.
Sun and Moon.
The next sunrise or sunset. Click for today’s daylight and the moon’s phase.
Date.
The weekday, the date and the week number. Click for the month.
Notes, to-dos, countdowns, the stopwatch, the shelf and colours are shared with ZincWolf Island, Dock and Widgets, on your Mac only.
Make it yours
Your menu bar, your way.
Turn on the modules you want, put them in the order you like, and choose what each item shows.
- Symbol
- Figure
- Graph
- Graph and figure
- Labelled
Items keep one width as their figures change, so your menu bar never jiggles.
Performance
Light on your Mac.
A system monitor shouldn’t be what slows your Mac down. ZincWolf MenuBar reads only what’s showing, and nothing at all while no one can see the screen.
<1%
of one core
With its default items, Overview, CPU and Memory, even with the CPU graph live in the menu bar.
12 MB
of memory
Its whole footprint while it runs. The graphs are small rings in memory, never files.
0.028 ms
to read the processor and memory
Each time, every 2 seconds. Slow figures, like free space, are read every 30 seconds.
A menu bar of symbols alone reads nothing but the battery’s charge. Nothing is read while your Mac sleeps, its screen is off or locked, or someone else is using it.
Measured on a MacBook Air with M2 and 8 GB of memory.
Privacy
Your figures stay on your Mac.
Read live, from macOS.
Every figure comes from what macOS already reports, read on your Mac at the moment it’s shown.
Nothing logged.
The menu bar’s graphs live in memory for the last minute or so. Nothing about your Mac is written to disk: only your settings, and what you keep in the features you share with ZincWolf Island, Dock and Widgets, like timers, notes and to-dos.
No calls home.
It goes online only to check its license and look for updates, and for Ping, once you turn it on, to time a server you choose. Nothing about your Mac is ever sent.
Only what you allow.
Calendar and Reminders are asked for only when you turn them on, and your location only if you choose Current location for Sun and Moon. It never reads your Wi-Fi network’s name.
Turn a module off and it stops reading at once. Quit ZincWolf MenuBar and its items leave your menu bar.
Requirements
Made for the Mac you have.
macOS 14 or later
Sonoma, Sequoia, Tahoe and later, on Apple silicon or Intel. On Tahoe its panels are made of Liquid Glass.
Asks only when needed
No admin password, no helper and no Accessibility. Calendar and Reminders ask for access only once you turn them on, and Appearance asks once to switch light and dark.
Modules that fit your Mac
Battery shows on Macs that have one, GPU wherever the graphics driver reports its load, and Wi-Fi on Macs with Wi-Fi. Git needs git, and Docker needs Docker, OrbStack or Colima running. Everything else works on every Mac.

A system monitor for your Mac’s menu bar, and more. Each module, like CPU, Memory or Network, is a small live item in the menu bar, a figure, a graph or both, there to read at a glance. There are modules for developers, like AI Usage, Git and Docker, and for your day, like Calendar, Notes, To-Dos and a stopwatch: 33 in all. Calendar, Timers and the others with more to show open a small panel when you click them.

$19.99, once, the same as every ZincWolf app. Every 1.x update is free, there’s no subscription and no account, and a license is for one Mac. It’s sold directly from zincwolf.app, with a full refund within 14 days if it isn’t for you.
33 in all. Overview, CPU, Memory, Disk, Network, Battery, GPU and Sensors for your Mac; AI Usage, Git, Dev Servers, Docker, Ping, VPN, Wi-Fi and Uptime for developers; Calendar, World Clocks, Timers, Keep Awake and Now Playing for your day; and Notes, To-Dos, Countdown, Stopwatch, Shelf, Colours, Appearance, Device Batteries, Reminders, Eject, Sun and Moon and Date. Overview, CPU and Memory are on to start with; turn on any of the others in Settings.
Yes. Turn each module on or off, drag them into the order you like, and choose what each item shows: its symbol, a figure, a small graph, a graph and figure, or the figure with its name in tiny capitals beside it. Each module is its own item, so the ones you don’t want simply aren’t there.
Yes. AI Usage shows how much of your AI coding tools’ limits you’ve used, Git your repository’s branch and changes, Dev Servers the servers you’re running and Docker your containers, all read on your Mac. Ping, VPN, Wi-Fi and Uptime keep an eye on your network and your Mac.
No. ZincWolf MenuBar adds its own items and leaves everyone else’s as they are. To remove one of its items, turn its module off, or hold ⌘ and drag it out of the menu bar.
No. With its default items it uses under 1% of one processor core, even with a live CPU graph in the menu bar, and about 12 MB of memory. It reads only what’s showing, and nothing while your Mac sleeps or its screen is off or locked.
No. The menu bar’s small graphs show the last minute, from memory. Nothing about your Mac is logged or written to disk; only your settings are saved, along with what you keep in the features you share with ZincWolf Island, Dock and Widgets, like timers, notes and to-dos.
Only to check its license and look for updates, and, if you turn on Ping, to send a small echo to the server you choose every 30 seconds. Every figure is read on your Mac and stays there.
Yes. The Sensors module shows the processor, graphics and battery temperatures and each fan’s speed, read directly and only read, with no helper and no admin password. It never changes fan speeds.
Yes. Its timers, Keep Awake, notes, shelf and colours are the same as theirs, kept on your Mac: start a timer in ZincWolf MenuBar and it counts down in the island and the Dock too. Its to-dos, countdowns and stopwatch are ZincWolf Widgets’ own. Each app works fully on its own.
Only for the Calendar and Reminders modules, and only when you turn one on and click Allow, so it can show your next event or what’s due today. Without them, everything else works as before.
Yes. The Battery module shows on Macs that have one, and GPU wherever the graphics driver reports its load, which Apple silicon always does. Every other module works on every Mac.
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Apple silicon or Intel. On macOS 26 Tahoe its panels are made of Liquid Glass; on Sonoma and Sequoia they’re frosted.
Reading your Mac’s temperatures and fans directly needs access to macOS that the Mac App Store doesn’t allow, so ZincWolf sells it directly, as it does all its apps.
Look up. It’s all there.
Live figures and smooth graphs in your menu bar, light enough to forget it’s running. Available now, for $19.99 once.
